High Performance Computing In Pharma R&D

Mission: To (accelerate) improve pharmaceutical research & scientific outcomes by collaborating to share experiences and insights, optimize HPC capabilities, promote standards, and develop best practices.

In the spirit of collaboration between technology professionals supporting challenging Research organizations, this group was formed in 2007 to provide a unique forum where Pharmaceutical and like-minded Life Sciences HPC technology professionals interact. We collectively face challenges in implementing and supporting HPC for our Research communities: scale, data, obtaining and retaining qualified resources and exploring & leveraging new computational and information technologies to advance the understanding of disease and the development of effective therapies through large scale modeling, simulation and data mining and analysis.

This forum allows members to discuss the challenges and strategies around the explosive growth of data and the need to effectively use this data in our research and development programs. We share our experiences, problems, challenges, successes, and our perceptions of the current state of HPC and emerging tech and scientific advances. The forum allows us to identify collaboration opportunities in non-competitive areas, and shape the direction of the application of HPC technologies in the pharmaceutical industry.
